I guess no one owns a Emmons. I do know my freind Skip Mertz own's about 10 or 12 of them.and other freinds Joe Ferri, Jimmy Sprauge,and two decesed freinds Pete Creslo,and John Jiacovelli.I own a SD-10 Fessenden and a home made that I built.

Chris,

I thought you were referring to their lap steel -- but I guess not. I do have an 8-string Emmons lap, though -- that's my only Emmons.

I've got an Emmons 8-string lap, too, in black. I rarely play it, though -- mostly I use my Melobar 6 string.

How are those Emmons lap steels? Are they the same neck and parts as on a pedal guitar sans pedals and what ever the rest of that stuff is? Do they sound like a PSG? Volume and tone controls onboard?

Mike,

Mine's one piece of wood -- pretty narrow, and basically the only metal on there is the round nut and bridge -- they're steel bars. It sounds fine. I've never played an Emmons PSG. Tone/volume controls, yes. Mine is dark stained, as was a lot of the early 70's furniture...
