A friend of mine has a Dobro that he bought used when he was a kid. He said he bought it about 45 or 50 years ago. It is in good condition...just needs a little cleaning and some TLC. It sounds great and that is with the old, crappy strings on it. It is actually a Dobro brand squareneck resophonic guitar. The serial number stamped on the end of the headstock is FS8355. Does anybody have an approximate fair market value on this guitar? He doesn't want to sell it quite yet but when he is ready I would like to make him a fair offer on it. I already offered him $50 but he wouldn't take it...lol.

Thanks,
Dave Alfstad

Unfortunately given the number of variations between the various Dobro® models and the "overlapping" serial number schemes, it's almost impossible to correctly identify a Dobro® without a picture.
Check this web site for some examples.
If you really want it appraised, I'd suggest contacting Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, TN.
