I figure it's because they think he's the piano man. Just mention you're a distant relative of Billy Joel, then hunker down for the influx of female favors.

Tommy has a bumper sticker that says
Steel players do it with both hands, both feet, both knees - and chew gum at the same time! I'm pretty sure it's the dexterity!

Yeah Donna cool, but he doesn't have to try and walk at the same time...

Maybe the ladies think we MUST be smart to play this machine?

Do we now start a thread " To my Mormon steel playing frineds"?

This is why I don't play out anymore. It was just too expensive hiring security guards all the time. And the other band members were jealous, especially when the girls were fainting. Their screaming was also a big distraction. I think the BLACK Emmons also drove them into a frenzy.

The technical term for that is "DECOY",but I really wouldn't know,'cause I've never had that problem. They always seemed to have gone for the drummer.

"BJS"... isn't that the one that has the "crown jewel" at the end?

That's the one, Jimbeaux. Clearly, they are well-positioned for this new niche in the market. Can't wait to see the new expanded product line - 2" x 10" anyone?

Don't even think about trying to carry it onto the plane.....

When I play a lot of women walk by the bandstand and smile. A few of them even laugh out loud.

Terry -- This is a grate topic - Back in the mid 60's I noticed this happening to me ! I know it was the Steel that did it ! for I would some times play Rhythm Guitar and it never happened then ! There were about three things that I never understood ! and that was the girls would always ask "what's you sign" not knowing just what they were after , the only thing I could think or was the mat in front of the door SO ! with a dumb look on my face " WELCOME " ? Next was " we have a lot in common " & now here is where I really never understood what this was about --
" you got 20 bucks " ???? and of corse back then I might only get 5 0r 10 bucks for playing all night ! When I said no I didn't ! I never saw them again ! one of them even knocked my shot gun of the rack in my pickup , getting out !!!! They were grate Girls ! Just worried about my financial status playing Steel .

I like that thing about the bar. I've been meaning to write a song about a steel player. I'd name it "I can't tame wild women, But I can make tame women wild". Maybe it will be the second number 1 steel hit right after Sleepwalk.

I played a sit down gig at this bar for about 5 years and once in a while I would come back to the stage and find a pair of ladies panties and a motel room key laying on my strings. My wife started coming with me to the club and this problem stopped immediately. Also the girls would always come to the steel player to make a request and once in a while they would display their cleavage or lay their charms on the guitar strings, especially if you were playing. That is when I would play my fasted hot licks. That is how I learned a lot of my licks.

Kenny...and the beat goes on...

In my case, it was because I always looked young for my age; a prime example of pure innocense; shy too; humble; introverted; vulnerable; a bit naive; the kind of young man women seemed to want to "mother" or "nurture" or "adopt" or perhaps even on occasion "molest". Once my presence caught their eye, they found it difficult to not approach me. On some fond occasions, one would recommend or refer me, to her best girlfriend and some of those were great experiences in the life of growing up. Oh, those were the days.
