First you need to decide on a tuning, a good choice would be C6th, from the top or farthest string from you it would be E, C, A, G, E, C
The tab should have 6 lines on it and they are numbered 1 thur 6. If the number 3 is on the first string of the tab [the Number 1 of the tab] you play the 1st sting with you bar on the 3rd fret of the guitar. & so on down the line for the song you are trying to duplicate. Its nice if you have a copy of the song being played so you have an idea of the timing, thats the bad part about tab with no real music. finding a teacher would be a great help in the beginning. If I can help in any way, email me.

Moved to 'No Peddlers' section of the Forum.
I recommend Scotty's book, "Basic C6th Nonpedal Lap Steel Method". It's available from the Forum Catalog for $23. Order Item #S-01,
