I added the "sideman" comment as I listened to Buddy being conspicuous by his tasteful laying back, and putting in just the slightest sweetening here and there without stepping on anyone. Frankly, I thought a lot of what I heard (Katey Bellville, Kacey Jones, Allison Krauss, BR549) would have profited immeasurably from some heavy dollops of Buddy's steel, but the man is as great a gentleman as a musician, and that's saying a lot both ways.
