No ideas bout the new dog, but guess ya could cut them down & resolder the ends but you'd sure have alot of guitar to volume pedal cords!

I don't have a dog, but our 2 cats are not allowed in my music room. The music room and the bedroom are "NO CAT ZONES." I've trained them by keeping the doors shut and rewarding them when they pass by without going in. I spook them when they do attempt access. Positive reinforcement is huge.

Keep a spray bottle of water handy, the kind with a nozzle that can be adjusted to spray a thin stream, for when the pup does a bad deed.
She should associate a wet face with something she did wrong.
The worst case is that she might enjoy it.

You might try putting something that tastes really bad (consult vet or pet shop) on them til dog decides to leave then alone. The water trick worked with a cat we had, finally got to where all you had to do was make a hissing sound, and he would stop whatever he was doing.

I've used Buckley's Cough Syrup.
It's horrible tasting stuff.
I just painted it on the wooden furniture legs that the pup chews. He stopped fast.

I never needed it for patch cords.

I lost a couple of cords to an English bulldog puppy, before a pet store recommended a "bitter apple" spray that doesn't harm furniture, upholstery, electrical cords ... or your dog. (Tabasco can be hard on some, if not all, of the above.) Unlike hissing sounds or a water spray, the bitter apple still works when you leave the room, or accidentally leave the door open.

Our bulldog (now 2 years old) not only doesn't eat my cords, but he likes to curl up and fall asleep nearby as I play.

THANKS PARD, IT DID NOT OCCURE TO ME TO LOOK AND SEE WHERE THE CORDS WERE MADE. MAYBE THEY TASTE LIKE CAT, RABIT, SQUIRREL OR ECT: I DONT KNOW. TRIED RUBBING THEM DOWN WITH ONION, BUT SHE TOOK THE ONION AWAY FROM ME AND ATE IT. HAS HENRY FORD ANY LIGHT BULBS LEFT THAT I CAN TURN ON TO GET A BETTER IDEA? ANY GOOD SUGGESTIONS LEFT? LET ME KNOW... LATER, JENNINGS, INCAPS AGAIN

Jennings,
I have raised many dogs from pups, and I have found the best way to train pups is to cage train them. It is not cruel and is recomended by most trainers and veternarians as it also helps to pottey train them, because dogs will not mess where they sleep. The public library has many good books on puppy training that will enhance you and your pet's lives.

Go to an electrical supply house, and get a roll of small "Greenfield". (This is a hollow, spiral steel cable armoring used to protect electrical wires.) Using a hacksaw, cut the different lengths required to cover your cables (jacks and all), and just run your cables through the pieces.

Jennings...
This DOES work. Rub CAYENNE PEPPER that has been SOAKED in water and has DISSOLVED. Then rub it on your patch cords with a washcloth. . This is what "Groomers" at Churchill Downs uses when the Horse has "Wrappings" around their "Joints" and this prevents them from Chewing the "Guaze" off the "Joints"..... It won't hurt the Pup either. I takes ONLY ONCE, and most of the time, they will leave it alone. Hope this helps.

Shotgun! ................
Sorry, I couldn't help it, I really do love dogs........I had a puppy who used to file his little nails on my 33 1/3 records(showing my age here) and tore the covering off my Gretch "Country Gentleman" guitar case so I know how it feels....Good luck...

easiest way is to wrap the cords with 110v live lamp cords (and stand back)
