Who is playing steel guitar on the James Taylor songs, and on some of Lionel Richie's recordings?

I hear steel on songs by both these diverse singers. Just curious anyone know?

GOD bless you all!

I seem to remember it being Red Rhodes on the Sweet Baby James LP. A long time ago, though, so I might be wrong!

I played on some Lionel Richie stuff about 10 years ago but I don't remember what it was.
