Just wondering where/what/when I can find something related to steel guitar in this area since I will be there the whole May2004 workin on Norwegian F16's avionics during the Fighter Aircraft MapleFlag exercise.

Hi Bengt, Doug Jernigan is coming up to teach a Seminar/Clinic on May 8th as well as play a concert on the 9th.
You can check out the Upcoming Events page on my web site for more info: http://countrypickin.com/
Here is a map of Alberta: http://www.discoveralberta.com/Maps/mapviewer.html
You will find Cold Lake in the North East Corner...Look south of Edmonton to Red Deer and then look west toward Rocky Mountain House. Although Leslieville is not listed on this particular map, we are located 40 minutes west of Red Deer or 15 Minutes east of Rocky Mountain House just off highway 11. Let me know if you plan on attending. Best regards. ..jeff

Bengt, if you're going to be around Cold Lake for a month, do yourself a favour and go fishing on the lake itself. This is a beautiful area.

This is off-topic, but maybe the vast array of fish, birds, and waterfowl will inspire the new hit instrumental "Steelin' Kinosoo Rag".

Heck, maybe you'll pull the lake monster out yourself: http://www.coldlake.com/gallery/?currDir=./Fishing&pageType=image&image=Nicefish_g2.jpg

Bengt;

drop me an email if you like as I'll be around Edmonchuk and could maybe give you the 25 cent tour...say, in exchange for a quick flip in one of your F16s?!

Bengt,
Just echoing Jeff's post. A steel seminar with an opportunity to Jam after. You would be in good company. Take Greg up on the tour of Edmonton too.... Maybe we'll see you there?

Thanks for the replies. I don't know how my working schedule is right now but I think most weekends are free so I'll be able to get around and visit/see different places. Both the seminar and fishing at cold lake sounds interesting. I don't plan to bring one of my steel-guitars with me but I might be able to find a used one for sale once I get there. There might be 1 or 2 days during the exercise where the Airbase will be open for public to see all the aircrafts displayed and I will probably be around the norwegian aircrafts to answer any question related to avionics if needed.

Staying at Centre Suits in Bonneville for the MapleFlag exercise. Now I need to find a place where I can look for a steelguitar. With/without pedals. Going to get lots of inspiration for a song or two while I am here.
