The Dobro and Steel album that Buddy and Shot did in the 60's? I don't recall the title off the top of my head, but I know it was on the Starday label. A buddy of mine is wanting a copy, heck I wouldn't mind having one myself.
Thanks
David

Hello
It shows up now and then on ebay, keep an eye there. The title is "Singing strings of steel and dobro" Starday SLP 230.
They also have a very good one on K-ARK 6028 called "The two aces back together"

The "Two Aces Back Together" album was released on CD. I picked one up within the last couple of years. I think I got it from Scotty. |

The one my buddy is looking for is the "Singing Strings" album. Is it possible that his is "Two Aces" re-released under a different title?
Thanks
David

Hi David,
I have a tape named "The Two Aces Together" featuring "Shot Jackson & Buddy Emmons picking the famous Sho-Bud guitars with Vassar Clements on fiddle."
Songs are: Banks of The Old Pontchartrain; Mansion On The Hill; No One Will Ever Know; Red Wing; Linda Lou; Maiden's Prayer; Footprints In The Snow; Crazy Arms; Together Again; I'm So Lonesome; Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain; Hold It.
I never cared much for dobro, so if you want it, it's yours (no charge). Just send me your mailing address.

"Singing Strings" and "Two Aces.." are two different albums. "Singing Strings" was recorded early 60's, ( 62 or 63 ). It was rereleased on Nashville-label, like many other Starday albums. It's a great album, often overlooked and I wonder why, since it's features some truly amazing steel playing by Mr Emmons. Vintage record dealers and ebay are probably the best sources, I seriously doubt if it's been released on cd. |

I've been digging around on Ebay, no luck yet. Maybe Tubb has one floating around? [This message was edited by David Mullis on 20 April 2004 at 06:25 AM.] |
