There have been so many comments about the tragic loss of Jeff Newman. We all know he was so talented in many areas and touched so many lives. I did not know him well enough to call him a friend but it appears to me he sure was a special individual. I am looking at how he and Fran worked together and am amazed at the results. I know many married couples that could not work together without difficulty. I would venture to say he was a great father as well as a grandfather. Many of the players keep their families out of the spotlight and I can sure understand that especially in the times we live in. Jeff Newman evidently was a one of a kind individual. He is greatly missed by so many friends, students and fans. It is very difficult to find so many qualities in an individual. May the Lord comfort the family during the days to come.

Paul, great post my friend.I had a chance to spend a week with him in 2000.Ater spending 6 to 8 hours a day behind my guitar,we always set some time aside to just talk.Subjects varied from his thoughts on Nashville,The Opery, to discussions about his faith.Jeff Newman had tremendous insight, almost devine perspective on the things of life.Steel guitar was only apart of what this guy was about.Always heard that he was arroganant and hard to get close to,not so.When I left on that Friday, new I had made a lasting friend,I will miss him....Steve
