Laney and Russ,
It was great seeing you both yesterday. And Laney, it sure was a big shot in my arm when you sit in and sang with us. That was the most fun I had all week. You are without a doubt my favorite girl singer. And, it was a big kick to see the bands reaction when they heard the first couple of words out of your mouth.
I'll see you both tommorrow night. Again, thanks for giving a crappy week a great ending. You are a treasure and the singer every steel player wishes they could play behind.

Know what my favorite thing is about the really talented musicians? They are usually equally as gifted as "silver tongued devils" who know just how to make a lady's day. Thanks guys.
Of course, Mike, you know what Russ would say about that: "girl singers only sound as good as the steel player makes her sound".
(He used to be quite a "silver tongued devil himself...hmmmmm?)
I admit, I have been spoiled in this "steel guitar world". It's just more fun when you can call out any of your favorite songs and "know" how good the music will sound behind you. And, yes, it does indeed make a difference in a delivery and how an audience perceives her "talent". I may be "just the girl singer"...but I'm no dummy and with that,
I remain...beholden,
Laney |
