There is a good Jazz club in Edmonton where you would be right at home, called the Yardbird Suite. Please consider playing there sometime. I don't know who you would get in touch with, but the radio station CKUA would be a good start.
Here is a poem that I hope you like.
Spinning My Wheels
wishing like a fish
in a dugout pondering
my future and yet
what do I get
but more of the same
in perpetual inertia
I age I change I dream
it seems my schemes
have no place to go to do
what good dreams must
they rust to dust
while time slides downhill
I make mistakes it takes away
from my share of time
I rhyme in vain
my train has come and gone
my light has shone the dark park
has no place to dream
I've missed the boat, the point
the way to go to show
what could have been then
but now I feel unreal
like I'm spinning my wheels
