1st off Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to all my 3000 plus friends on the Forum. Back in the early 60's Faron Young did a live radio show for PEARL beer. Who were the musicians who worked the show? I'm thinkin Darrell McCall played rythmn and sang harmony. Thanks for the replies.--Kenny Ray

Just an educated guess, but I think it was probably Big Ben Keith in that era.

I saw Faron in Indiana around 61-62 and Dickey was with him then and Darrel McCall was playing the Fender Bass that had Joker scratched in the head of it.

I recall Faron Young at Sunset Park in West Grove, Pa. in the '60's with Lloyd Green, fresh from the military service, playing a Rickenbacker Console w/pedal added. That was the first time I met Lloyd. “BJ”

There are 3 CD's of Faron Young's the Radio Show. I had picked a set of them up for Jason Odd but he never did get back to me. For sale, if anybody is interested in them.

John,

Lloyd worked the road for Faron in 1956-'57, after he got out of college not the military. Faron was in the Army during the early to mid fifties.
Lloyd started appearing on Farons records after Faron went to Mercury records. Also, he played a Bigsby guitar that belonged to Faron.

Kenny,

I've heard those recordings you are talking about, and, the steel player is Big Ben Kieth.

Mike

Also worth mentioning is that Faron had some of the very best steel players in his bands over the years. Joe Vincent, Lloyd Green, Big Ben Kieth, Dickie Overby, Jimmy Crawford, Doug Jernigan, Darrell Hornberger, Cal Sharp, Stu Basore, and others that I'm not sure of.

Hey Graham, Jason Odd would like to note that you went out and bought 3 CD's of Faron Young's the Radio Show, as a kindly offer to Jason Odd, which was cool, but you didn't actually ask before hand if I actually want them.

I did email asking if there was a track listing, session details, and a few other things as I was looking to arrange a buddy of mine to order in a dozen or so copies of each for retail if I could find out more about the supplier.

I know you did it with the best intentions, but man, I only wanted to know what was on them and so on.
I had a lot of stuff to organise for this dude, and you got lost in the shuffle.
You make me sound somewhat unreliable in the context of that post, so maybe I'm being a little sensitive, but you used my full name when you don't even include your full name in the Forum profile Mr. Graham; Member From: Whitby, Ontario, Canada.

Jason:
We exchanged approx. 6 emails re these CD's between May 23 and the end of June this year. I sent you jpg's of the covers, front and back which listed all the tracks and offered them to you for a $30.00 donation to b0b for the Forum. Last I heard, you had a few things to finish up and would then settle up with b0b. I heard nothing further.

I'm sure if you check your sent emails between Fri. June 20/03 and Monday June 23/03 you will find the email you sent me concerning the last part of the above. It is quite possible, as you say, that I slipped thru the cracks but does not negate the fact you were indeed going to take the CD's.

If you wish to carry this conversation forward, do it by email, as I'm sure you still have my email address, just as I have yours.

My original post was not meant to disparage you but was stated as fact. Take it for what you will.

Is there good steel work on the cd's?
If so, I'll take them. Just send me an e-mail and we'll fix this in 5 minutes

Marco:
There is steel on the cd's and it is good when heard. Think the cds' are more important in the historical context. If you want them, $30.00 donation to b0b for the Forum and I will mail them to you, my cost.
