Pregauged sets(9&10s) on the strats sounded fabulous. Has anyone on the forum tried them on a steel? No singles, yet, and expensive.

I like them on my Taylor six string geetar. The set I have has the G D and A strings flat wound and the lo E round wound. That's the way they do it. Very equal tension on each string. There is a silk winding between the steel string inner core, and the windings.
Great on 5 string jazz bass...flat wound.

I have wondered about steel strings for steel, but the price of individual strings was too high for me. Maybe time to look again.

I use Thomastik-Infeld Flatwounds on all my Hawaiian steels.

I'd like to give those "Silkies" a go ...
