Yes, I do believe it was Jimmy Day. That JD sound is one of the signature sounds that started all we love now when it comes to the PSG. How many countless hours did those of us who heard it when it was released, expend trying to get "that" sound.

Walter Haynes, Buddy Emmons and Jimmy Day, were on the cutting edge in that day, that made possible what we tend to take for granted now. But many of the licks they came up with, have become part of most PSG player's arsenal. Licks that are timeless.

May Jesus bless these true pioneers, and bless all of you,

carl

Carter, it's Jimmy Day on all tracks, except Buddy Emmons is on "Each Time", "Soft Rain", "If She Could See Me Now" and "Make The World Go Away". Ray recorded Soft Rain several times, most of the versions with JD, but the one on this album was cut in -64 with Big E ( my copy of the album is from -66, I wonder if Columbia released this twice with different versions on the latter) .
