oboy... when they kick into the walking shuffle for the solo on cut 4 (so sad) I get all a-tingle...
I think Mr. Brown's vocal work on that cut is brilliant as well...

Wow, talk about fast service, got mine today and just finished hearing some of the most beautiful playing. I have collected Lloyd's records from about the first one many years ago and thought I couldn't get goose bumps anymore but there's not enought superlatives to describe this great project from the Master of giving chicken-skin. His absence over the years from our turntables and now CD players left a void, but Miracles can and do happen and Lloyd's place in our hearts has reached new heights in this must-have treasure for fellow-players and fans of the "King of Steel." |

......opening some new horizons for steel guitar! If any of you have friends that call the steel,"that ol' whiny thing",let 'em listen to this! They'll change their mind, quickly! Lloyd,ol' pal,ya still got it,only more so! If it's good enough for Paul McCartney,it's good enough for me.

My copy arrived in the post in Darwin just as I was leaving to return to East Timor after 4 days R&R. I never had time to play it there so I bought it here with me. I had it playing in the office while I was clearing the Australian Army Band which had been here for a series of concerts.I got a lot of comments like "Wow what instrument is that?"and "Gee that sounds great". All positive, they all seemed to like it a lot. So Lloyd, you are being heard even here in East Timor. Thanks mate, a great effort. |

Can't wait what Lloyd has to say about ASHOKAN FAREWELL...........a song I love, and espoused upon, here; I feel so good. Not only that Lloyd
thinks this timeless modern-day song was worthy of his immense talent to include it on this long-waited/anticipated CD, but, in my small
humble way, I feel a real connection with a remarkable steeler.
Thanks Lloyd.

I just got my copy today. Wow!! This is fantastic. I can forsee that many players will try to implement some of these innovations in their playing. It would also be fun to see him play some of these at the ISGC. I wish I could be there.
Was I the only one that got a personally signed note in the package from Lloyd? |

Just got my CD.
Nothing in this world could have slowed me down from ripping it out of the Jewel Case and stuffing it into my player.
Nothing except for ONE THING...
A hand written note from Mr Green. Over 1 page. The handwriting was a fantastic style, much like my own. I do print a little more to limit the artistry..
I hate to contradict one of the Trinity of the Greatest, but the suggestion that I "might not be too familiar" with his works couldn't have been much farther off the mark.
Starting with Too Much Water under that old bridge, Faron Young, Jeez. Johnnie Paycheck, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, The Byrds, Ricky Scaggs Country Boy, And like a few others I'm constantly surprised at the songs and albums I've listened to till they were worn out that had him on it. I listened to my Old JPaycheck 8 tracks until they'd been fixed a half dozen times and the player moved from one wrecked car to another. I had some with Donny Young hissef' playing a Lloyd Imitation as well I'm sure...
Then there was Danny Shields' Record Collection..
Big Steel Guitar, Day For Decision , The Hit Sounds , Mr. Nashville Sound , Cool Steel Man , Green Country , Moody River with Pete Drake The Music City Sound Lloyd Green And His Steel Guitar , Shades Of Steel (Monument , Steel Rides , Feelings , Ten Shades Of Green , and a couple other later released I borrowed from friends.
In a couple of my "slumps" I've dusted off the Shades of Green and Green Country, and my slumps invariably ended. To say that they are "workshops" somehow cheapens them. They are Inspirations, and always were to me and thousands of others. His music never ceases to heal the wounds of a dozen too many telecasters..
Not too familiar INDEED.....
I'll listen to this CD until it was sorry it ever rolled off the press, and probably do the same with whatever I run off for my own use.
However I think "Cherish" is the work I'll use to describe how I'll feel about this three paragraph note, written by hands that mine will only dream of playing like. It'll be in a safe place, and someone someday will find it in my Estate, along with a couple precious others.
Thank you Mr Green.,
You, along with Sue Parkhouse, my friend that came from London this year as many before, to see/hear me on the way to the ISGC, have MADE MY YEAR!
Thanks too from all of us for this NEW inspiration.
You'll never know how much you provide.
Maybe you will though..
Did I say Thank you?
Thank you.

Hi
A few words from Norway as well.I got 2 copys of this CD last week, and having all of Lloyds music, and been a fan of his style and sound for years,I really lokked forward to this CD.I was not dissapointed!Lloyd has always got that little "extra" when it comes to touch and sound. It really moves you.Few people can play the melody so "straight",and yet play so much around it,makin it SO interesting and inspiring to listen to.I collect steel guitar records, and many are only played once or twice, but Lloyd, and a very few others, gives you something special.A reason why I got all his recordings, and play them over and over.I also had the the pleasure of visiting Lloyd twice in Nashville, and the things he told from his studio days, was really inspiring, and things I always try to remember when I work in the studio myself.
A true gentleman,and my fav.player.
You will lve this CD if you like good music, and good E9 playing.
Wish I could see you in St.Louis,my good friend Dag Wolf will be there and play for you-a fine player, and you will probably hear that he loves Lloyd too!
Sincerely,Egil. |
