I recently acquired a Superior model Weissenborn guitar. I plan on putting an A, high bass, tuning on it and am wondered what would be the proper string gauges? It is a very light, somewhat delicate looking instrument and wouldn't want to damage it with too heavy a set of strings.

The Newtone 'Aloha' strings are made specially for wood bodied Hawaiian guitars, and are gauged 15-56.
They are designed with a round core and will come to pitch at a lower tension than other strings, so they are recommended for higher pitched tunings.
I usually tune to D and lowbass G, but I've had these strings in E and highbass G on my 'Superior' weissenborn without any trouble.
A bit hard to find though (and pricey), so I order mine direct from Malcolm Newton in UK.

Edit/Ooops,- I just noticed you asked for highbass A, not lowbass.... You'll probably need some lighter strings for that.
