Molly O 'day sang the song too after hearing the Hank William's version.
The song is original from Grady and Hazel Cole.
I'm not sure but I think Kitty wells sang it too.

sorry, I can't help you more.

Jack - Go here:
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=MISS70308121936&sql=H1347441

for the All Music Guide listing of the song. You'll not only find all the albums on which Hank's version is available, but a list of all the other artists who have recorded it, as well.

That song was recorded under the name "Luke The Drifter".
There is no Hank Williams SR., at least I don't know of anyone ever recording(or ever calling themself) by that name. Its just HANK WILLIAMS.

The song on the recent George Jones Album is a different song: "Tramp on YOUR Street" and is by Billy Joe Shaver (about his going to hear Hank as a kid...). It's a great song and the similarity in titles is surely a concious choice.

I remember a version of "Tramp on the Street" by Joan Baez of all people, cut in Nashville in the late 60's with some great Pete Drake steel...

Follow this link, then click on "Real Country Archives Page 12" and you can listen to the Wilma Lee and Stoney version of the song, if you have the realplayer installed.

Hope this helps,
Lem

Smiley:
Now if I could only play like you!!

Very nice version of this song by Little Jimmy Dickens on his 1957 "Raisin' the Dickens" LP. No steel but some nice harmonica work.

The Hank Williams version of "Tramp on the Street" can be found on the Hank Williams "Health and Happiness Shows" CD. It was recorded for radio broadcast and was not released as a studio-recorded single.
