Back in 76 when I was promoting the Cavalcade Of Guitars in Dallas, I was told of a club in Dallas that featured the best jazz steel player around at the time.
I don't remember his name.
I went to the club and, much to my dismay, he was there but was playing electric guitar.
I guess that he never went out on the road with any name singers, but, I was told by the greats in steel guitar that he was the man when it came to steel guitar jazz.
From this small bit of information, can anyone tell me what his name is and if he is still around?
Thanks,
Dave A. Burley

Can only think of Reece Anderson. His steel jazz tops anyone I can think of in all of Texas and the father of MSA.

I would say it is Tom Morrell, since he played steel on those "Sextet Sessions" records with John & Jerry Case in Dallas. I believe Maurice was on some of those recordings as well.
