Will a 6 pole horseshoe pickup be ok to use for a 7 string steel that I am going to make? Is the string spacing for the 7 string steels the same as for the 6 string steel?Any advise. Mahalo.

Ricky 6 string bobbins have 6 pole pieces ... one for each string.

Their early 7 and 8 string bobbins were simply a 6 stringer with added pole pieces.

The string spacing was narrower for the 7 string and very narrow for the 8 ... some call those early 8 stringers .. "Non-Slanters" cause it was so tight.

Later they started making them "correctly".

If you want to use your pickup for a 7 stringer ... the horseshoe magnets will be fine ... but you really need a pole under each string ..... Jason Lollar can make you a new bobbin with any string spacing you desire ...
