What a bar room singing son of a gun. A friend loanded me his second album and it sat around for a few weeks before I played it. Wow...Vern Gosdon, Lefty, John Connolly, Gene Watson all rolled into one! I have no idea who plays steel on it though.

I saw Dallas Wayne a few years ago when he opened for Dale Watson in Culver City (Los Angeles). He is part of the Twangbangers group too.

I saw Dallas Wayne perform at last year's Twangfest in St. Louis, where he was the unexpected hit of the show. He had the Missouri band the Morrells backing him up, and that man can flat out SING. He's a really nice guy, too.
If you're talking about his CD "Here I Am In Dallas" the steel player is Jay Leach.

You're right,he really can flat out sing! That is the most pure country I've heard in a long time. I just listened to his first album today. Its called "Big Thinkin" I like the one song that says...you can paint stripes on a billy goat and call it a tiger if it floats your boat, but you can kiss my ozark ass if you think thats country...
I doubt if he'll ever be a star in nashville but its really great music.

I subbed on a gig last year, and it was with Dallas' band. He's a big guy with a shaved head, and very much fun to play with. He does a lot of old country classics, and good originals.

Last year I used to run into Dallas on the road from time to time, and he always had Joe Goldmark with him.

I've listened to both his albums now and really like the second one with "I'm here in Dallas, where the hell are you. It is interesting how many steel players I've heard here in the post that plays with him. All of them very good players for sure. It must be a real blast to play with someone like that.

I like the tune where he sings: "I'm bouncing beer cans off the jukebox - I'm the poster boy for detox..."

Woo!!!! Joe Goldmark is a humdinger of a picker. I saw him and Dallas play with the Twangbangers in my neck of the woods. Everybody on that stage was scary good and I wish they would do it again!!

I know on "Big Thinkin'" He had Tom Brumley playing steel (pedal and lap). Good guy, from all that I can tell.

Thanks to Dale Watson and Robbie Fulks for getting him heard in the U.S.

I seem to recall he was big in Europe a few years before.

Janice, you are right. Dallas Wayne is quite popular over here (t.i. with people who like country music of course).
I love his album 'Big Thinking'. But hey.... Dallas wrote all the songs together with Robbie Fulks! In my opinion one of the most refreshing songwriters of the last decade.

Heck, I just was hanging with Dallas yesterday. He came to our gig at the Little Longhorn, caught one set, then we just shot the sh!t in the parking lot while he was showing BB Morse his (Dallas') new bass, a really nice 1940's blond 3/4 of undetermined manufacturer.

Then he went off into the Texas heat...

I'm glad to hear so many good things about Dallas. I am spreading the word here in the NW and everyone that hears his album love it. It's only a matter of time. I haven't heard anyone since Keith Whitley that could change his voice around like he can then add that great deepness to it. He's got it all. Remember...Old 45's can kill you!

I caught Dallas' set Friday in France. He really put on a great show. I didn't catch who the steel player was. It wasn't Joe Goldmark.

I guess the very reason why Dallas hasn't much been in the spotlight before, is because for years he lived here in Finland . And actually he is touring here right now and played in Helsinki Tuesday night. Good singer/songwriter and a great guy, forumite Olli Haavisto has been his steel player here for years.

Dallas and I played together in the 70's on two tours in Cali.Had lots of fun and thought his songs were where Nashville was at the time, but what do I know. Lost track of him till I met a stripper in Fla. who knew him from Chicago. Dallas has no recollection of who that could be. I have pics of us in Hollywood, a great singer and writer, and bassist. I will see him someday again I hope.
