I want to thank everybody who sent pictures. In the last few days I've received dozens of great shots. It's going to be hard to pick the best one. I might have to post more than one. The picture is going to go on my web site. Perlowinmusic.com.
Right now only the home page is up, but it's got a very cool drawing on it. you guys might like to take a look.
The picture was the original artwork for the Firebird Suite CD cover, before the record company altered it in order to accomodate the lettering.
The Firebird Suite is itself, a 20 minute condensation of the music for the Firebird Ballet, which runs about an hour. The ballet premiered in 1911, and this picture is an altered version of the picture that was on the program that night. In that picture, the prince was holding out a birdcage. We scanned in a picture of a steel and retouched the picture to have the prince playing it. If you look closely you can see the bar in his left hand.
The Steel in the picture is not mine, but it is the same make (MSA) model and color.
I hope you guys enjoy it.
Thanks again to all who sent in their photos. Mike |
