I am in touch with Steelers all over the world. I find Steelers fall into the PTL PICKUPS-TUNINGS-LEVERS way of thinking, Or the other group which think that FINGERS-BRAINS-INSTINCT- are the success secrets. Which group is right. I personally want a KSP group started. {KEEP STEELERS PLAYING} Anybody want to comment???? .Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works

Mike- You are probably right. There is the possibility some one tapes a Steel player trying to learn his licks or his.. I have always wanted to make a video of Steel Players {face only} while they are playing and ask the viewer what instrument is being played. Imagine the change in facial movement between "Orange Blossom Special" and "Faded Love". ED

I think without FBI you can't get to T & L

You can just use a stock set-up and do what it allows. Beyond that is the "Instinct to Brains" that makes you change tunings and add levers. In Search of the Lost Chord.

Pick-ups (amps) are simply ; Is the tone to your taste. If you hate the tone you would not be inpsired to go that extra mile with the others.

I suspect all lapsteelers are FBI or BITF
And for PSG, BTIF leads to Levers.

Over all with the great variety of copedents and tunings used, it would seem IBT is the steelers most common trait. IMHO.
I am sure there will lots of comments in this thread

The best equipment in the world won't make you a good player.

However...

The best equipment in the world might make a good player sound better.

I think that about covers it!
