I've got to congratulate Stu on his "SUPERB" sound, backing Mandy Barnett on the 'Opry! His playing has "SOUL" and a "TONE" unsurpassed by anyone! I'd like to hear more sounds like that "FULL-RICH" tone more often. I've always loved Stu's playing. He, like a very few has a style of his own and he plays like he really means it. His tone is always good no matter what he plays on. And the best part is he is a friend of mine. |

Stu Basore, like Sonny Garrish is one of the unsung greats of the PSG. Every note is tasty and full of rich tone to die for.
God bless him, and all of you,

I've come across a site that has several live Ween shows, with Stu on PSG.
With song titles like "Piss Up a Rope", "Help Me Scrape the Mucus Off My Brain", and "Waving My Dick In the Wind" you get the idea that this ain't exactly how Hank done it.
Not everyone's cup-o-tea, but some great playing by Stu and the rest of the Shit Creek Boys as they were affectionately dubbed.
To listen, go here and download shows from Oct. 96...

Its from 12 country classics by ween, I think there were only 10 tracks. Does anyone know anything about those sessions, I heard the players didn't know what they were playing on when they did the tracking, I heard the lyrics (which are twisted but hysterical) were not put on until after the overdibs were done.
Hey Earnest....Jon Wayne gonna be in town any time soon? |

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Stu Basore is one of my favorite steel players. He has the tone and soul in his playing that I search for every time I sit at the steel. He's a real inspiration. He sounds fabulous with Mandy. |

Jesse-
The link I posted has live shows from the tour supporting the album.
Russ Hicks played steel on the album, and he said those guys were, quote, "CRAZY!!!"...
They cut demos of all the songs prior to recording in Nashville, so I think the players knew what they were getting into.
And the Jordanaires certainly knew what they were singing.
Even though the subject matter isn't standard country fare, I'd have to say that Ween actually respects traditional country way more than most of the pretty boys in Nashville.
They called the album '12 Golden Country Greats' because they used 12 Nashville musicians.
My apologies to Stu if he wanted this one kept under his hat. |

Ween released a live album from the country tour, which was available online only, and is now sold out. Still, if you can find a copy on eBay or something, I'd recommend picking it up. Stu's break on "I'm Holding You" is gorgeous.

Forgot to mention that Stu appears on Ween's White Pepper album.
This is their latest album, and Stu shines on the jazzy "Pandy Fackler" and poppy "Stay Forever". Check it out! |
