I originally posted this in Events & Announcements. Let's see if it gets any responses here.
I received the following email from someone who needs a PSG player for a project he has going.
Hi Richard,
i got your name and e-address off the internet while searching for a
pedal steel guitar player.
I need a pedal steel player for a C&W song* on a demo I'm preparing to pitch
to independent/alternative record companies. Stylistically, and in terms of
melody, "Programmer Girl" is 60's style country.
Lyrically, it's about a guy who's smitten with a woman who does computer
programming, a tongue-in-cheek sendup of classic country & western love
songs. Kind of like Charlie Rich on laughing gas...
I have ideas in my head what certain licks would sound like, and, though
i don't play pedal-steel, i'm guessing these wouldn't require great
virtuosity---which you may well possess, I don't know (-;
if you are interested, I can pay you a hundred bucks for your time. I
figure maybe 2 hours to run through it a few times and record a couple takes
on my 8-track.
I live in the Barron Park neighborhood of Palo Alto, but I will be
taking off on an extended trip out of state on the 21st. Let me know if you
are interested in contributing to this project.
thanks for your consideration of this note,
Tom Terrell
* a C&W anomoly amongst some pop-punk stuff.
PS Do you read music? I don't know notation for time signatures, but I could
slap some notes on some sheet music for the steel guit parts i have worked
out and you could improv the rest.
