Saw Burke Carroll with Luther Wright & The Wrongs (the band that did the honky tonk version of "The Wall") at The Thirsty Hippo in Hattiesburg, MS last night. His tone and his chops were incredible, to say the least. Not only that, he was a friendly and humble guy--he let me check out his gear and even showed me a few licks. The Luther Wright show is definitely worth checking out, and not just for Burke's playing. Their songs are great, and their versions of Pink Floyd tunes are great.
There was one lick he showed me that I didn't quite get (even though I didn't get home 'til 4:30, I set my guitar up and went over what he showed me). It involved what he called playing a scale "in sixths", using the A & B pedals and involving strings 3 & 5. He also pointed out how you could throw in string 3 for color. Could anyone describe this for me and other interested forumites. If so, much obliged...
