I bought a couple of those a while back and was very dissapointed.
The material is way too soft, making it sound very dull and after only a few times use the strngs were starting to make grooves.
I ended up with the Beard capo and am very happy with it, one of the things I like best about it is that it doesn't depend on the string height to work, so I can use it on both my dobro and weissenborn style guitar. |

Hi, Alan, I agree on the Riden- a great idea but a poor material. The fellow that makes 'em was very pleasant to deal with and tried really hard to get one right for me, but the material's just too soft. I have several capos that all have their pluses and minuses- the Scheerhorn flux is very small, doesn't get in your way, but takes a second to position and has little mass and perhaps some slight tonal loss. The Beard is very well made, lower profile almost as "invisible" as the flux, but the little thumbscrew to tighten is a pain and a "lost part" disaster waiting to happen. I really like the Bradley, although somewhat thicker than a Beard, it works similarly but with a small cam lever that instantly locks it down, nothing to lose. Doesn't seem to get in the way much. Lots of folks like the Schubb/Pearce, but they clamp to the neck itself and have to be the exact correct size for your guitar. They do make several sizes. Good hunting!
