Are there any good rhythm tracks available for the dobro for country and bluegrass, like there is for steel?

For practicing basic bluegrass backup, recordings of "classic" bluegrass bands that did not use a Dobro are a valuable tool. Flatt & Scruggs featured Uncle Josh Graves on Dobro, so you learn a lot by listening, but they're not the best to play along with. Bill Monroe & the Bluegrass Boys and the Stanley Brothers never had a Dobro player, so their recordings are fun to turn up and play along with. One useful technique to perfect is to play simple, tasteful rhythm chops on the back-beat. With or without a capo, you will find yourself playing in the keys of G, A, Bb, B, C, D, E and F behind their vocals.

Hi, Lindley, I'm playing steel on the Watch 'N Learn Jam Series CD for country and bluegrass. go here: http://www.cvls.com/guitar.html
and scroll down to bottom of the page. It's really a well produced CD of just the kind of tracks I think you're looking for. The Steel parts are only on the "country" tracks and mostly pads, no licks to get in the way. I use this one with my own students, and I think every track would give you some great practice time. They have great distribution and you can find these in many music stores nationwide. Good luck!
