I’m sure you are familiar with his helpful posts and tab website that he contributes to, however few of you have probably had a chance to met him in person or hear him play.
I was fortunate enough to do both this afternoon over at his place in Queens.
Jeff, you are a true monster player and really know your stuff, not to mention a really nice guy. It was a pleasure to hear you tear it up on both necks, and I was floored by your C6 Jazz playing. I hope you get around to getting some of that stuff recorded so others can become aware of your enormous talent.
Thanks for the ride to the subway, looking forward to next time.

Amen to THAT!!!
I've known Jeff now for sometime.....and we have had some great conversations on the Phone and some pickin'(has he played you his Patriotic rendition on the C6th neck yet?? It will blow your mind)....and I agree totally with what you say Sam.
Jeff is so far beyond his time...and he better cut some songs before he forgets more than I'll ever know....ha....
Anyone that can tab something out so perfectly....."without even playing it on their steel"....and only by listening with headphones.....is DA'MAN..... and Jeff "is" Da'Man.....and one day everyone will know.

Sam,
That is one incredible note you left. I hope I'm worthy of such praise. I guess when you live in your own body and mind, you tend to magnify the flaws, and gloss over the strengths without really thinking about it. It means so much to me for you to have such strong positive opinions about what I've done. You say you were inspired by my playing, but in fact, you have inspired me to continue on the path I've been on. It's very hard work, but you have made it easier by removing self-doubt I had. As I've said in the past many times, there is nothing written about playing jazz on steel in a deep theoretical way that I'm aware of. I have always been in an internal conflict in which I continue to develop and apply jazz theory to the steel while at the same time never being quite sure if what I'm doing is the right approach. To have you commend me like this is tremendous. I'll talk to you next week, and I'm looking forward to getting together again. Also, I look forward to talking jazz with you at any time, since you are a great sounding board for me when developing my ideas and applying them on the steel.

Howard, When I play in NYC, I'll let you know.
Rick, As I've written to you in the past, we are of like minds, and I have only the highest regards for what you yourself have done playing jazz on steel (#11).
Marty, I plan sometime in the next couple of months to record and put one of my arrangements on the Forum.
