As many of you know from our posting here, Wayne Simmons' lacquer Carter D-10 was stolen from his home in April of this year by a boarder while Mr. Simmons was in the hospital.
G-O-O-D N-E-W-S ... Steel Player does the right thing again!
Tommy Detamore called us around September 12 asking about a lacquer D-10 Carter, which he saw at a pawn shop for $1,695 or so.
As soon as he learned from us it was stolen, he became determined to see that the rightful owner received his Carter back.
I just talked with Wayne Simmons and he received his Carter from the Sheriff's Dept last night (and is a VERY happy camper). It's in great condition (just as he remembers it).
As a small token of Carter Steel Guitars' appreciation for his doing the right thing, we are sending Tommy Detamore a TurboWinder and Korg CA30.
Congratulations to Tommy Detamore for being a great human being and doing the right thing.

And once again it confirms that there are many wonderful people in this world. As sad as I felt for Wayne's loss when I first read the post. I am equally elated, and joyous, that he got it back.

I met TD on a Cory Morrow gig about a year and a half ago and have proceeded to pester him on a steady basis since. He always makes time to talk and/or help.... class guy.

Gosh, thanks y'all...The folks at Carter are to be commended for keeping such good records. Without that I would have had a harder time tracking down Wayne. And it's great they cared enough to make that post back in April (which I guess I missed).
And wow, a Turbo winder and a tuner? Ann, you must have heard me play and figured I needed some help

As I stated in another thread I finaly crossed paths with Tommy last week at a Haybale Gig. I had never seen a picture so I was pleasantly surprized when told who was playing steel. We had been talking online since 1999 when Ed Burlson's disk came out.

Wayne Simmons called me last night to invite me and my wife out for a seafood dinner. Now that's classy! Let's see, hmmm...a tuner, a tuna, a new steel guitar friend and neighbor....Now that's your basic "win-win" situation! |
