Has anyone ever heard Darryl Worley perform live other than the Opry Live? I saw that on a video over at Eddie Gossien's house the other day (Eddie is on all of Darryl's shows and videos) and the song they performed was pretty amazing for an opry house "live mix!" THAT SONG "My Friend" is a dead-ringer for "song of the year," as well! (my personal opinion )

Just wondered what they sounded like out on the road in case anyone has seen them. Love to hear about it.

The local band I play with opend up for him last fall here in Urbana, IL. Darryl and the band sounded great (yes they had a steel player) and played some good traditional country stuff too! They were all real nice guys.

Very cool Dyke,

Did you talk to Eddie? He has been at steel for a few years. Eddie showed me the Cheatin' Heart kick back when we were in Michigan. I will not forget it! He laughed quite a bit when I told him I didn't know where in the world they were getting it. Geesh, what a world of notes available on the steel, huh? Do you remember if he was playing his blue Marrs or his blonde Emmons LeGrande? Just wondering

Terry,
PBS TV (west Tenn ch. 10)has recently been broadcasting a live show of Darryl Worley at a "homecomming "(outdoors)just outside his hometown of Savannah Tn, in the park at Pickwick Lake.
Only place around there to have enough room I guess.
His guests were Gene watson & Pam Tillis.
It's one heck of a show.

Eddie was playing his buns off,and laughing and jiggin while he was playing.he was getting an awesome tone.and having a good time.
He was playing a blonde Emmons with the logo missing ,he had an American Flag decal in the center of the front apron.

Did't Eddie play with Mel Mc Daniels,
and was that him in thier video, sitting on top of the train, playing the steel ?

The broadcast has snuck up on me twice, I'll be on the lookout for it to come up again, I want it on tape !

Too cool Kenny,

Yes, Eddie does "add much movement" to the steel guitar! Always exceptional tone and precision execution, and Eddie "plays it all" from the traditional - right on to "the newest of new" stuff with all he's got.
He was definitely on Mel's stuff, as well... and did the "Wade Hayes thing" afterwards. I knew he played on several of the tracks with Mel, but not so sure if he played Hayes. (Quite an accomplishment though when you calculate the "power of gNashville's record producers, coupled with their often common dislike for travelling musicians!")
I've been working on Eddie to get on here... and he is going to come on soon, I think. Boy I would sure love to get a copy of that channel 10 broadcast when you get it. I doubt Eddie has it, and I would pay you for it if you want to dupe a copy

Thanks for the post and info. Who are you pickin' with Kenny? (Assuming you play too )

Terry,
I've been doing a weekly TV show, aired on Sat for the past 6 years here in Memphis, up till last winter when the leader had surgery on his knee and we knocked off till he recovers.
I'm playing a club on week ends not too far from Daryell Worley's home town, till we get back on track .
Nice place ,just west of Pickwick Dam,(big hill Pond)
seats about 450, full most of the time.
Come see us if you're in the area,

I saw Darryl and Eddie last night in Anderson, SC and it was a great show! I didn't get the chance to talk to Eddie, but I met Darryl and when I told Darryl I was a steel player, he told me he was proud of me because I'm playing steel. Eddie did a great job on the steel, and Darryl introduced him a few times. Brett Day, Emmons S-10
