Hmm.. Sheet Music..

I think you can only find it on CD nowadays.

Oh, and what *is a "Daveno"? Like a Ducati? MotoGuzzi?

Always:

Written by Irving Berlin
As recorded by Patsy Cline, February 5, 1963)

I'll be loving you, always
With a love that's true, always
When the things you plan
Need a helping hand
I will understand, always, always

Days may not be fair, always
That's when I'll be there, always
Not for just an hour
Not for just a day
Not for just a year, but, always

Days may not be fair, always
That's when I'll be there, always
Not for just an hour
Not for just a day
And, not for just a year, but, always

Lots of "country hits" were from the more traditional realm.

I understand "I'm an Old Cowhand" was an Ellington song, as well as him doing the arrangement of SGR on Steel Club Record #6 for Buddy and Leon.

I like Rondstats IB tribute.

Played with an old Cow, Kathy Lundsford in the 80s that did a failed "Gershwin Trubute". Matter of fact, it was the first time I played at Jubitz in '81. I'm there with Monty Moss next Sunday thru-Thurs, (just after doing a yearly "Hayride" in Scapoose.(

Hope to see you there.

Loonnnng week, double shifts paving/hauling equipment. and playing with SBD at the Hitchin Post fri-sat in Beaver Creek. Took the old panhead, and enjoyed the "chilly knees in the breeze" thing that you reminded me about. Wasn't wearing my hand painted tie tho...

No Rest for Eric West

I'll definitely try to get and see you once again......Thanx for the tip Eric. Are you still using the handle off of the table knife for a knee lever? How long has that been?

I was a child living in No. Calif. when that tune was popular. I can still pull it off the top of my head; if you don't get it soon, I'll put it on paper and fax it to you. Let me know--HJ

The copyrite on that song is 1925. You guys must be realy old. " I'm an Old Cowhand "was Johnny Mercer.

NOT THAT OLD!!! Songs have a way of re-emerging and regaining popularity. It would be nice if today's Top 40 could be replaced with something besides the usual transparent effluvia that permeates the aural labyrinth! HJ

I was just kidding about the age.
But the thing that makes this song so great is that its timeless. Most love songs lately seem to be about going to the highschool prom or your first kiss at 17.
Always is a love song for anyone. It's been recorded by Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline and about a dozen others.

Sure glad YOU asked the question first, Paul.
I wasn't at all sure I heard exactly what I read there in that post. Whew!

I knew the answer of course, but I appreciate Jody popping in with an accurate and detailed explanation. Thanx pal. You've once again come thro' for all your olden friends.

When I was a kid, I suffered from Kneezles; that's something like tonsilitus, isn' it?

Big Band was the frist kind of music I played as a group. Five chords and you can play most any one of them. That was with a standard guitar of course. I sill like to listen to the big bands once in a while.

Bob.

"Always" is the kind of thing you could find in a public library or by inter-library loan, in a song book of old tunes.

Believe it or not, but "always" is not in my original fake book. Although other songs of that time are in it. Amazing!...al
