National Public Radio is doing an 11-part series that "highlights the creation of the American musical traditions that give this country its own unique sound."

This morning's segment was on the guitar's growth in popularity -- it's definitely worth listening to, and it appears that the entire series has the potential to be pretty good.

Yes, and their web site has much more information than is presented in the audio version. I believe this was #2 of 11 , every Friday.

Thanx for the tip Russ! The future shows look great, they even mention the sad fact that neither Rose Maddox nor her brothers, are in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Good ol' NPR!
