I'll have to second this one. Daryl's album is one of the best country albums I've heard in years and Mike Johnson sounds incredible.

Ditto. Mike Johnson seems to always sound incredible. I have here a demo tape of the song "Can't Control the Wind" which was written a number of years ago by our bass player, Roger Pirtle. This was a quite modern-sounding ballad for its time. Mike was session leader/producer, and his steel is all over this track. The backup work is done in the "layered" approach. Mike's musical ideas and impeccable playing fit the song far better than anything I could ever dream up, focusing the listener's attention on the vocal and perfectly fitting the emotional and dynamic textures of the number. I've never heard better backup work in my life. It sounds like Mike worked with the song for several weeks to develop the perfect musical format, but Roger told me no, Mike put the whole track together in about 2 hours time working from the scratch vocal.

This fellow is indeed a gifted musical genius!

Hey!
I thought it was Darryl Worley singing. Both sound alot like Keith Whitley. Anyway, great steel work by Mike Johnson!
If you want traditional go buy this one!

Love that ride on "Mirrors".
If you like traditional country, this CD is a must have.

Just got my copy of the CD and love Mike's great work. His fresh approach never ceases to amaze me and I would love to see and hear more of his talent.

There's some downloadable songs from Hoot Gibson's new project at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/339/hoot_gibson.html

Traditional country with Mike Johnson on Steel, Joe Caverlee on Fiddle.

Excellent!
Done in his home studio with a Tascam 788.

"For You" and "Talking to the Hand" are my favorites.
