First, I wish to thank everybody for all the get well wishes. I never realized I have so many friends. This truly is a great community.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I am home from the hospital. To begin, the prognosis is for a full recovery, save that I am now a few millimeters shorter than I was before the accident. My nose bone was completely shattered, and I now have a new one made out of titanium. I suppose I will be setting off alarms at airports from now on. Surprisingly, my nose does not hurt at all. It merely feels stuffed up.

The more serious injury was the spinal fracture. I have a stage 2 compression fracture of the L 1 vertebra. I don't know what that means, but unlike my nose, this one hurts. However, even though I am in a certain amount of discomfort, I can walk, and make all of the movements necessary to play the steel. My coordination has not been affected. I have a spinal fracture, but the spinal cord itself is not damaged.

The recovery is expected to take about 2 to 3 months. I was told to expect residual pain for up to a year. I expect to be back at work on my current recording project in a few days, and back playing with my rock band by the time of our next gig. (I am not allowed to lift anything, so it looks like I'm gonna have to hire me some roadies.)

Before I close I want to thank our fellow forumites Marty Pollard and Jeff Lambert (Both of whom have had heated arguments with me in Off Topic in the past) for calling me long distance to wish me a speedy recovery.

Thanks again to every one of you. I love you guys.

Sorry to have read of your accident; I would have sent my condolences earlier, but my pc has been down. I am glad that you are recovering so well and that the cord is intact; I did'nt realize that your injuries were so extensive. (By the way, I have almost 6000 miles on my bike, but it has always stayed in the same place). I'm sure Albert was looking forward to hearing your group. There's always tomorrow; hang in there, and don't overdo yourself. My best, as usual, Hugh

It will be a lot more musical than an aluminum or stainless one. I wish you a speedy and comfortable recovery.--Chas

Uh Oh! Is that what it was? Nnnnaughty-I'm glad you're recovering MP3. It sounds very painful to say the least... I would say "That Sucks" and believe me... it is worthy of the expression [my opinion]

God Bless you MP3... and RDd2 too,

...and all the rest of you 'ole pedal farts too

Hi everybody. I'm woosey from the pain medication so I want to make this short. I first want to say thank you all for your good wishes.

secondly, I AM going to recover. I will not be attending the convention this year because I went to Dallas instead, but look for me next year, with bells on.
