My three year-old daughter loves this show.
(I do too.) SOMEONE plays great steel guitar
in the incidental music for this show. Does anyone know who it is ?

It's Gary Brandin. You can get a great CD of his music from the Forum catalog.

Jeremy Wakefield also gets music credit on the show. JW always sounds gorgeous on those old Bigsbys.

That's right Earnest, I don't play all the steel on SpongeBob Squarpants. Some comes from their archives, and other players. I have my BMI royalty statements that list all
the episodes I'm in. My favorite is 'Reef Blower', I'm playin' from beginning to end.

b0b, thanks for the plug for the Vanduras CD.

Also, Junior Brown plays on at least one episode.

It's by the guy who originally invented Ren & Stimpy and Powdered Toast Man ( a show he walked from due to the corporate issues he had with the producers, etc); for some weird reason I've forgotten his name, but expect really weird cartoons, beautiful artwork and if memory serves me right inverted erections, and radio controlled dog poo and over ambitious mother bugs may be found in various episodes.

It's near impossible to see here, I don't have cable and usually see it at another person's home, about three minutes before they switch for something else.

If you like Cow & Chicken, Ren & Stimpy, Mr. Evil and other shows of that ilk, you'll lurve it!
In an age when Bugs Bunny is a mass marketed tiresome pathetic shadow of the 1930s-1950s glory years and you want some goofy cartoon fun, go with Spongebob. Nuff Said

re. Ren And Stimpy- John Kricsfalusi (sp)was the creator... I don't know that he was involved with Sponge Bbo (although R&S influence is STRONG)

SpongeBob is great. My favorite character is Gary the snail. Cracks me up every time he meows like a cat.

Spongebob's creator is Stephen Hillenburg.

Some of the archived steel stuff sounds alot like Rudy Wairata (an Indonesian "Sol Hoopii disciple" who lived in Holland).

Gary B., your CD is still the talk of the northern Shenandoah Valley....Biggest thing since Patsy Cline.

I'm thinking of a Stephen Hillenburg/John Kricsfalusi (I have no idea how to spell this) compilation tape that a friend made for me from various cable shows, sorry guys they kind of blended all together.
The kid with the radio control for the dog 'stuff' is the funniest thing I have ever seen, I was around my buddies place recently and sure enough on the cartton channell is was Ren & Stimpy!
The evil clown/midget car episode which I've seen about a billion times, so funny!

Please excuse my confusion, cartoons do rot the mind after all.

I see a silver lining behind the dark cloud of steel guitar's future, and it's called SpongeBob Squarepants.

My Kids and my wife and I all love 'Sponge Bob' and ditto on Gary the snail.
I think Nickelodeon should be induced into the Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. It seems like every show has some steel on it and the kids today will have that sound burned in their minds like we did with Bugs Bunny and the Flintstones. Bravo to Gary B. and others playing on those real cool shows.
P.S. All you Texans should be in love with 'Sandy the Squirrel', she really loves her Lone Star State.

Look for the Sponge Bob "Lil Bit Of Texas" episode where Sponge Bob and friends try to convince Sandy the Squirrel to stay with them underwater-Junior Brown is the guest vocalist and steel player-the recording was done with Junior's "P.A.Re-Issue" triple neck non-pedal Bigsby
