He "figured it out." According to him, I have 8 pedals, and there are 8 notes in the major scale, obviously each pedal changes one note in the scale. And the knee levers were for playing what he called "Asian scales." When I tried to tell him he was mistaken, he refused believe me.

You meet such colorful people on gigs.

Of course everyone knows that the knee levers are for playing the sharps and flats between the eight scale tones!

You shouldn't believe everything people tell you, John. It makes your guitar go faster.

You're all wrong. The 9th pedal is for jacking up the steel so you can crawl under it easier.

One time I had a guy complain that the band was too loud and requested that we "turn it down a couple octaves".

You guys all know better. The 9th pedal is for those 9th tunings. One guy told me that he just didn't care for the sound of those "Emmison steels". Its the same guy that likes "Shoboats". I think they are all related.

I've got 7 pedals and 4 knee levers + 1 wrist lever--effectively that's 7 pedals and 5 knee levers.

Soooo.... The 7 pedals for for the 7 white keys above the root in each octave, and the 5 knee levers are for the 5 black keys. See how all this relates to piano?

Hey Mike,
I heard that pedals and levers really increases the CHORD progressions. I know I can cut a lot more wood after cranking up my old chain saw.

I told one drunk years ago that "those things that hang down" are for milking those notes that make you cry!!
When he went back to his table he was telling all his friends and was making milking motions with his hands.

Bob Mainwaring. Z.Bs. and other weird things.

...Doug Seymour's got the answer...my guitar has 13 pedals so I can play up to 13ths...the back neck is in case I need to go up another octave...the knee levers are to winch in the slack in the strings that you get from pushing down on them with the bar...

I still like Ralph Mooney's reply to "What do the pedals do?"

They make it sound real purty!
