Hey, Stoney, this is your steelpickin' buddy, Brett. I met Buddy Emmons Saturday night for the first time. He was playin' in Nashville with a singer named Johnny Bush. Johnny wrote "Whiskey River" for Willie Nelson. They were playing at the Midnite Jamboree near the Ernest Tubb Record Shop. All of the steel players who were there got derby hats like Buddy's. Then, Wilma Lee, the speaker recognized all the steel players by asking us to stand up. I stood up along with several other pickers. I met Buddy after the show and he said, "So, you're Brett." and I said "Yes sir, I am." They had a section taped off because of reserved seating for everybody who plays steel. It was AWESOME! I've got a pin that looks like a '64 Emmons pedal steel. Your buddy, Brett

Hey, Brett,
Just ONE question....was you as nervous as I was when you met Buddy for the first time? I met Buddy in 1983 at the "Hot Licks Studio" in Naashville when he and Phil Baugh were recording there. I have NEVER been so nervous with ANYONE in my life(not even when I met Reba McIntire)I look back and think how STUPID I was when I met him. I acted like a Moron because I asked the same questions over several times. Today, I am much better at meeting Buddy. He is truly THE Mestro of the Steel Guitar. Take care, Britt...Hope to see you in the "Big D"
Ron

Hi Brett: I'm Stoney's wife, Lois, and he is at the North American Country Music Association Convention in Pigeon Forge this week and he will not be home until Monday. It's being held at the Louise Mandrell Theatre. He will probably answer you when he gets home.
I'm glad you got to meet Buddy. He is a really nice guy. Johnny Bush has always been one of my favorite singers. We'll see you later.........Lois Stonecipher
