Go to www.dannygatton.com then click on the Audio/Video link. There's a couple film clips that feature Big E with Danny G, including one from the Redneck Jazz days.

The other is labelled "Funhouse", a Gatton tune, but it sounds more like "Rock Candy" to me. See what you think.

These take a while to download (bring a book!) but it's well worth it!

...enjoy!

"Funhouse" was the name of the band at the time... rather "Danny Gatton's Funhouse", with guest BE

damn I miss Danny...

I miss him, too.

Clips are cool, but do take a couple of days to download.

Buddy Emmons once told me that Danny Gatton really tore him up one time. They were playing licks back and forth, like on "Rock Candy" and Buddy said he was really concentrating on what he was doing because Danny was really playing great. Then after playing a ride, he looked up at Danny and although he was hearing him play, Danny had his arms crossed across his guitar! Buddy then realized that Danny was using a delay and was playing at the same time while Buddy was playing, then using the delay to have it play after Buddy's ride! That really got to Buddy and he quit playing telling Danny "You really got to me and I got NOTHING left!!"

Wayne;
I remember Buddy telling about that. It was an old tape Echoplex. Danny had switched on the record/sound on sound feature and just waited for the playback. From what I've heard, Danny would use it once in a while to play twin guitar parts live.

'FunHouse' is also the first song on the CD 'Cruisin' Deuces'. Great song and great album. I lucked out and saw him at the Bottom Line in NYC the year before he died.
