I'm looking for a fly case for my dobromabro. Actually I need a bunch of them for a pile of guitars for a road band.

The Calton's look good to me right now.

They need to be relatively light and bullet proof.

The Calton's are great. I was going to get one for my Heritage Johnny Smith Arch-Top but decided against it when I inquired and found out that there was a five month lead-time for these things.

Many music stores have Calton's ready to go in a standard Martin "D" size. If you want a custom fit though, you'll have to wait.

Calton's are not light in weight.

Love my Calton...except if I've got to run across a parking lot with it:

Bullet Proof - You betcha

Light - Only if you're a "buff" kinda guy!

Just bought a Calton case (bright red!) for my Lebeda squareneck as I will be doing a trip across the pond.
Its heavy (too heavy for carry on luggage?) but it sure is armoured.
The lead time for supply doesn't seem to be too long in the UK.
Nice people to deal with too.

Thats my few pence anyway.
Good luck,

Bill

Bob...

I'd estimate my case at 15-18 lbs. I don't have a scale here. The Calton factory site does not list weights.

They do now market 2 weights of case and the web site says there is 3-4 lbs difference.

It looks like dobro cases are special order, but, a quick Google search shows an active dealer network. Someone could be stocking them.

SKB makes a SKB-18RW flight case that's big enough for a dreadnought. I bet it would work for a dobro fine. Lots of people have them for around $180 and SKB will personally guarantee the guitar up to $1500.
