Tommy Detamore posted that Bobbe should write a book, given his intimate knowledge of our instrument. I can't second that enough! I dunno, maybe it's been tried before and deemed not worthwhile but it may sell. I bet Bobbe has boxes of great photos from the "good ol' days." Not to mention great stories. I'll help you with the spelling Bobbe. By the way, I'm an unemployed editor.

I love you Leroy! Even though you make my sides hurt! And every place else when I fall down laughing! Write a book? Well, having been raised in a steel guitar family, Uncle being a pro player, Father owning a music store and teaching music in collage,Grand parents and mother all music teachers, and me in the pro end of the business for years,(none of your bis how many),I 'spose with my 100% (Total) recall, I could possibly ,with enough motivation, do a history book on steel guitar, since I was there when it all happend , with my eyes wide open. Just having trouble figuring out what the motivation would be! I think this would be an intresting venture for all. I can think of enough funny stuff to make a New York city phone book look tiny! OK guys , talk me into it.

John, yes, I do have a lot of great photos of may great stars (steel and otherwise) that I took while on the road in the '60 and 70's. I was a real photo fanatic, Nikon and Hasselblad with lenses everywhere, A lot of never seen pictures. You have me thinking now,(not that easy to do!). Thanks for your vote. Come to think of it, Buddy Emmons was and is a real photo nut and has millions of great pictures no one has ever seen. I'd like to go through his collection someday, bet it's great.
Anyway, -------I'm thinking! |

UUUUPPPS! I did not see the enough part on your post , John.
No with all serious aside what a book that would be. Not just about the steel, but think of all the great players bobbe has know and could write about, or maybe not. |

Everyone thinks Bobbe has enough material for a book. I know he has a photographic memory, but I think he's out of film! Just kidding, Bobbe, put me down for an autographed copy.

Hey Bobbe, just remember that great line from "The Man Who killed Liberty Valance":
"When the legend becomes truth - print the legend".
Definitely get those stories down on paper! Life is short; you never know when a '66 Sho-Bud could fall off a high shelf right on your noggin therby depriving the world of your genius. [This message was edited by Andy Volk on 11 October 2001 at 04:05 AM.] |

I can already visualize's a copy of Bobbie's Bestseller paperback. Profounded knowledge of the life and time's of Bobbie Seeless includeing photo's.It will be indorsted by Mike Weirauch, with a ten dollar coupon on the back of the book .This will knock off the price of a headstone at your gravesite if you deal directly with Mike.
I can see my book setting right beside the toilet,,,,,,,Yeah that's gonna be some good toilet reading stuff. On those days when it appears I'm costipated ,I'll just reach over for Bobbie's book and read. The laughter alone should get thing's back to working.I can hardly wait..

Hi guys, I have been away from the forum for a couple days, just played a Bluegrass festival in Mississippi with Jim and Jessie and the Virginia Boys, and I saw and heard some of the funniest stuff I've ever been around! Did you know that these guys blew the top off a mountain in West Virginia with 60 sticks of TNT just to have some excitement when they were kids? (there was no TV then)Then there was the time when George Morgan (Lori's father to all you newbies), was treated very badly by the motel staff in New Jersey, so to get his revenge just before check out time, he sent one of the band members out to a food wholesaler, and bought 10 cases of jello mix. They filled all their bath tubs and sinks with water, and mixed in the jello mix, and took the remainder, which was enough, and put it in the motel swimming pool. Can you imagine diving into a pool of jello? They then checked in to a ajoining motel and watched the clean up for hours from their new vantage point. I never thought to ask him were you throw away a swimming pool full of jello! Then there are my early George Jones stories, will leave these along with the Johnny Paycheck and Farron Young stories for the book I am being coarsed into writing. I thank all of you very much in your proding me in this direction, even you RetCop. I might do a chapter on you (HA HA!).
