Well I just got back from California, was a long trip.Took us 2 1/2 days each way from Waco Tx to Downieville Calif. I went there to an invational steel jam. Boy did I meet some real good pickers, among them were Dave Wright,Frank Carter, JD Maness, Al Bates, Big Jim Baron, Jerry Pack, Troy Porter, Jim Palenscar, also there were several others. all exceptional pickers. Let me tell you JD is as a neat a guy as you will ever meet. Any way it was a great time and our hosts Frank and Fran Carter will never be beat for hospitality and being just great folks.

Norm,
In case you didn't already know, Waco got It's name from the call letters of a Radio station that was there years ago. At that time, as the story was told to me, there was just a couple of house trailers and a radio station there and as time passed and It slowly grew, people started calling the comunity Waco like disk jockey called the radio station WACO. And It stuck.
