I've been enjoying the continuing interview with J.D. Maness in this month's Pedal Steel Guitar Newsletter. I especailly liked the section where J.D. talked about Desert Rose, mentioning that he is most proud of his work on their albums. Those early recordings are also some of my all-time favorites. I'm enjoying the interview and look forward to the next issue. Thanks, Jim. I hope to get a chance to visit with you in St. Louis.

I read the first article by Jim and Jay Dee and it was informative. Hopefully as he catches up to the present there will be some more gear-oriented topics mentioned. Jim? |

I found it interesting that he started buying his Emmons guitars in kit form. It makes sense for those who will probably rebuild the instrument anyway.
Jay Dee is one of the top players on the planet, in my opinion. He has always pushed the envelope in terms of tone, technique and phrasing.

Jay Dee is also a serious hot rod enthusiast, so it's no suprize that he'd build a steel from a kit. |
