Lest we forget, Jim "Big Murph" Murphy was one of Carl's Tunesmiths in the 1960's. He recorded on one of their albums his steel instrumental "Big Murph". The ride he did on "Faded Love", Curly Chalker would have flipped over. |

Wayne, my brother: Time for the reading glasses. The thread was about the music of CAL Smith, not CARL Smith, who, as far as we know, never fronted the band for ET, though as Jimmy Day used to say, "he COULD have."
Also, although Jim Murphy has the same last name as famous Hollywood song and dance man/Senator George Murphy, Jim never was a contract actor for Warner Bros., nor was he ever Senator from California. And for that matter, neither was either Cal Smith or Carl Smith.

Herbster,
I looked at it again and I still see "Carl"!!
Are you sure?? Besides, wasn't it Carl Smith who fronted for ET along with Lloyd "Jolly Green Giant" Greene on drums??? |
