Last night I started watched "Almost Home" a 2001 movie with Whoopie Goldberg and others. I kept hearing some great steel guitar licks in the sound track, then there was the church funeral scene and there was a Pedal Steel. I know this is "No Peddlers" but the Sacred Steel guys are often discussed..When the ran the credits there it was "Pedal Steel - Chuck Campbell" and his credit was before Whoopie's! I can't say that I am a Whoopie fan, especially after that movie with Ted Dansin (sp), and that Rasta thing kinda scares me, but the move is funny, and you get the good tunes.

Elvis Presley's movie, "Blue Hawaii" has, in one scene, a stand-up steeler with a guitar that I cannot identify.

The player looks like a native of that state.

Does anyone know the answer to either?

Thanks, Rick

The producer or director--I forget his name--is a strong new fan of sacred steel music. He was insistent on Chuck being in the film, but in the end Chuck's time on camera was edited out. That's the movie biz. But he insisted that Chuck be listed prominently on the credits.

As you might imagine, Chuck had a mighty big time hanging out and working with some big name African-American stars. And it couldn't have happened to a better guy.
