Hi Jeff-
I'm 100% with you regarding the slotted headstock...there's just something inviting about them. Regarding the pick up qualities, I'd say contacting Herb directly (phone or email) would be your best bet. I'm familiar with them by name and reputation only, however Herb is pretty discriminating and he's only going to use a pickup that sounds great to his ear.
