I'm working on this tune in C6th. This is a beautiful melody.
Can someone tell me it's meaning in the native language?

Many thanks, Rick

Rick,

Yes, "Tiare No Tahiti" is a beautiful number and nobody does a better job of playing it on steel than JB. I think it was on the album called "Hawaiian Beach Party" and repeated on one or two other reprints.

Haunani on one of Webley Edwards "Hawaii Calls" album sings it very good also. As you know Tahiti is in French Polynesia. The French saying is "Fleur de Tahiti": translated is "Flower of Tahiti". Lyric by Steve Graham; Music by Yves Roche.

Sure is one of my favorites ... JB's Pro-Arrangment of it is a true challenge in reverse slanting.

I have a recording that features JB, Barney I. and Alan Akaka all playing together on this and others ... Island Calls (I think).

This song is also on Toomba ... a Cumquat restoration of Augie Goupil.

Bruce Clarke play's this tune on one of his CDs also ...

A haunting melody for sure ...

Jerry sure knows how to place the little nuances in a tune to make it special, and "Tiare No Tahiti" is a good example. He also puts a lot of expression into "Paradise Isle".

These tunes and "Drowsy Waters" are probably my favorite slow Hawaiian tunes. "Hawaiian Sunset" is my favorite of the up-tempo Island tunes.
