Has anyone played one of Larry Pogreba's aluminum resonators, or his aluminum Weissenborn? Does anybody own one?

I don't find any previous threads about them, but surely someone like Mike D. has explored the idea ...

Wow, using classic hub caps to hold the cone in place is very creative! I wish he had some audio samples...

Larry's a facinating builder with some wild ideas. I haven't seen his aluminum Weissenborn, though I've seen pics of alot of his guitars.
here's a thread on the subject. http://www.guitarseminars.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/002500.html
I've never seen one in person but saw Bonnie Raitt play hers on TV. hard to jusge the sound from that but it sounded like a resonator to me.
I know a long time National collector who bought one and while he likes it says the overall tone isn't as good as a National. according to Bob Brozman National/Dobro experimented with aluminum bodies back in the late '30s but didn't think they sounded as good as brass, steel or german silver.

The hubcaps are used only as covers, they don't hold the cone in place or anything. it sits in a well attached to the top.
