Any info on 'Prince Albert'? Slim Whitman's first single 'Way Down in Florida' in 1948 included this steeler.

Prince Albert tobacco was a sponsor of a regular Nashville radio broadcast in about that time frame. Is it possible you've confused this with a musican's name? Billy Robinson playd with the house band on the Prince Alpert show - possibly he's the steel player with Slim.

Hi Ron,

As a folklorist in Florida I am especially interest in this song. I'm unfamiliar with it. Any chance you can send me more info? An MP3? Lyrics?

Also, what is your source of ino on Prince Albert being the steeler for this session? A little more info might aid in identifying the princely steeler.

Best,

Bob

Well, it wasn't Prince Albert Hunt. Shot to death outside a Dallas bar in 1931 according to this: http://www.redhotjazz.com/princealbert.html

Those were the days!
