I had a pre-New Years party at my house last night. Many of my Ann Arbor musician buddies showed up (free food and booze... no problem getting them to come). Here are two videos filmed at around midnight.

Players....
Myron Grant - Harmonica
Brian Hefferan (From the Fabulous Heftones) - uke
Paul Winder - fiddle
Gerald Ross - 1947 Bakelite Rick (Aiellicized).
Frank Youngman - Bass
Ray Kamalay - Guitar

Way in the background wearing the red top is my lovely and talented wife Margaret talking with Elderly Instrument's Stan Werbin. She and Stan are both from New York, notice the talking with the hands.

The first is the old torch song I'm Confessin'.

I'm Confessin'

The second clip is the swing standard "Some Of These Days"

Some Of These Days

Each clip is about 12 meg - be forewarned.

Gerald says of his wife with a friend,

It was a good thing, otherwise I would not have understood what they were saying. Laughing

Gerald, IMHO I think your wife stands too much in the background. Razz

It was nice to bring us in on your musical family and New Year's Celebration. I enjoyed it. Smile

Is that Brian's wife Lynn in the background? Did she bring her banjo-bass (I forget what she calls it).

Ok, here's a video montage from the same party.

This one starts out with my lovely wife Margaret and I. Yes my wife really exists and here she is! You hardly ever see her at the music events I perform at or my gigs because we've been together since we were 19 years old and she's seen the "Gerald Ross show" many times and knows it all too well. Rolling Eyes

More musicians are in these clips, Lynn Hershberger with her Heftone Bass, Brian Delaney (from the Royal Garden Trio) on guitar dueting with Brian Hefferan on uke. Tom T Ball on a nice acoustic bass solo. Marty Somberg on fiddle. Rob Nuhn on electric bass, Kathy Gravlin on vocals. Check out Brian Hefferan's solo on I Got Rhythm - the guy is fearless.

Lot's of swing musicians in Ann Arbor.

I am very fortunate to know these musicians and have them as friends. We are all baby boomers and have known each other since we were all in our young 20's.

Another New Year's Video Motage
